Homily Points

10th Sunday B

General.  Sin has always existed after the Eden event and will still exist thereafter until man keeps on indulging in it. Yet man’s hope lies in the  redemption which Jesus Christ has brought about in such manner that we know that God is always ready to accept us back within the fold through the merits of the Blood which His Son has shed for us.

Genesis. Man’s first sin is a sin of disobedience. It happened when man wanted to make himself god of all creation and not to obey God’s biddings. This happens to this very day, notwithstanding the guilt man feels for every sin one commits, and the darkness and death which follow.

Second Letter to the Corinthians. According to St Paul it is the flesh which many a time leads to sin. It is this same flesh which suffers and dies, yet we daily renew ourselves in the Spirit which lies within us. It is for this reason that we are encouraged to spread the Good News, because we have believed and touched with our hands God’s wonders.

St Mark.  Jesus Christ walked along the ways of Galilee, healing and exorcising. Several psychosomatic illnesses have been and are still caused by sin, and so being healed is also a consequence of one’s leaving the crooked ways of sin and praying God to give him healing.
