Second Sunday of EASTER

General.  Eastertide opens up a time of joy for the Christian which lasts fifty days and beyond. After having been baptized during the Easter Vigil, the early Christians wore a white dress for eight days, which they would then lay aside on this Sunday – Dominica in Albis. This dress reminds us all in what manner we have been cleansed from sin, with which Spirit we have been reborn, and with which Blood of the Lamb we have been redeemed.

Acts of the Apostles. When the Jews heard the Good Tidings being announced by the apostles, many were those who believed in Jesus Christ and were baptized. They were of one heart and one soul, which is the sign of each community where the Eucharist is celebrated.

First Epistle of St John.  The belief in Jesus the Son of God, for whom the Holy Spirit testifies, as does that same Spirit which groans from within our selves, gives us birth from God and victory over the whole world.

St John.  During the time between the Resurrection of Jesus from among the dead and his Ascension into heaven Jesus gave out several signs to open the minds of his disciples, who up to that time had understood very little. They now start believing. Our belief, even if we have not seen the same signs which the disciples have seen, renders us blessed in God’s eyes if only we testify to Jesus being our Lord and God.
